According visiting these four cities, you will see nearly whole picture of the Chinese history. Xi’an and Beijing is one of the oldest cities in China, and the oldest of the Four Great Ancient Capitals, having held the position under several of the most important dynasties in Chinese history, including Western Zhou, Qin, Western Han, Sui, Tang, Ming and Qing. They were the residence of many Emperors for thousands years. Shanghai and Chengdu is an international city but also is the beginning of China Morden History. Here you can find both history and future.

 

Itinerary

 

Day1: Shanghai city day tour

A combination of our Tour in Shanghai and Bite of Shanghai trip. This is a relaxed and flexible trip which is all about discovering and exploring the most beautiful parts of the city which covers visiting symbolic tourists spots such as Yu Garden, Silk museum, fabric market, Xintiandi, Jade Buddha temple and the Bund as well as chances to taste the most delicious Shanghai style food which is renowned all over the world, such as xiaolongbao (soup dumpling), fried dumpling, wonton, etc. The trip starts flexible either morning or afternoon as your schedule and we will send you back to hotel at the end of tour. The entire day will be joyful and leisured.

Day2: Suzhou and Zhouzhuang

Visit Watertown Zhouzhuang which is noted for its profound background and well preserved ancient residential houses and elegant water views. We will heading there in the morning then spend the rest of the time at Suzhou which is a city with historical significance and beautiful landscape gardens. We will have lunch in the most famous Suzhou cuisine restaurant. Try delicious food and take a rest to restore energy for afternoon trip. In the afternoon, we will see the famous Suzhou style garden – Lingering Garden which is recognized as one of the most classical gardens as UNESCO World Heritage Site. After that you will stroll in Pingjiang Rdwhich is a historical commercial street since from Ming dynasty. At the end of the day, our driver will send you back to your hotel in Shanghai. Entire trip is approximately 9 hours.

Day3: Hangzhou day tour

A full day trip from Shanghai to Hangzhou. You will be picked up at the hotel lobby and take bullet train to Hangzhou which is the fastest transportation and only takes about an hour. You will hike a bit today, because Hangzhou is famous for temple attractions. You will visit historical Faxi temples on the way, (over 1000 years history) and enjoy the most beautiful tea plantations sceneries in the hills. As well as that, you will try the wonderful Hangzhou cuisine in a local restaurant for the lunch. In the afternoon, you will have green tea taste and see the Longjing tea processing in the Longjing tea village. Followed with boat cruise to see top 10 sites along the famous West Lake. Last you will take bullet train back to Shanghai and we will drop you off at the hotel around the dinner time.

Day4: Beijing 

Fly to Beijing. Your guide will take you to your hotel first. After a short rest, we will visit Beijing Hutong. It is the traditional neighborhoods of the city, where narrow streets and alles are lined with courtyard residences. Then you will have Beijing Duck for dinner. After dinner if you want to explore Beijing on your own, please ask your tour guide for advice.

Day5: Beijing

Around 8am your guide will pick you up in your hotel and drive to the Great Wall. It is the symbol of China. We will spend about 2 hours here, during which you can walk on top of the wall and admire the ancient manmade facilities such as the watchtowers, ramparts, and more of his immensely historical and significant construction. You can also take a cable car up and/or down as you wish.

After lunch, we will go to the Temple of Heaven which was established in 1420. It’s the largest ancient imperial worship architecture complex in the world where emperors and people from the Ming and Qing Dynasties prayed for good harvests and other blessings. You will go back to hotel around 6pm.

Day6: Beijing

Around 8am your guide will pick you up in your hotel and drive to the Forbidden City. It’s the largest and the best preserved ancient imperial architecture complex in the world. Over the course of five centuries, 24 emperors had lived in there. You have 2 hours to feel the royal life they had before.

After lunch we will go to the Summer Palace which is a fine vacation spot for past emperors and imperial families. Today it is the largest and best preserved royal garden in China. The vistas are truly beautiful here combining water with flora and manmade elements that date back centuries. You will be drop off around 6pm.

Day 7: Xi’an

Take flight from BJ to Xi’an. Fist day we arrive is your free day for you to explore Xian on your own. The Huancheng Xiyuan Park and museum might be the first place for you to learn the history and culture of Xian. No entrance fee is needed! If you have any problem or want to ask for advice, please feel free to ask your tour guide.immerse yourself in charming Xi’an, as you stroll along the ancient city walls. Have a good rest and prepare for next day.

Day 8: Xi’an

Around 8 am your guide will pick you up in the hotel lobby. Then follow your tour guide on a tour of Emperor Qin’s Terracotta Army, then compare the UNESCO-listed wonder with the grand Hanyangling Tomb, which dates from the Han Dynasty. After lunch, visit Banpo Museum, an archaeological site of about 5 hectares where many Yangshao culture items have been found. The ancient settlement is very different from what we now see in Chinese culture and society. We will fly back to Shanghai at night.

Day 9: Chengdu Arrival 

We will take morning flight to Chengdu. Rest of the day is a Chengdu highlight, as you visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, the best place to see Chinese most endearing residents. Then tour the museum and see a movie about the Giant Panda’s habitat and evolution. It depends on the pandas activities. Then see Wuhou Shrine, which built in commemoration of Zhuge Liang, the Prime Minister of the Shu State during the Three Kingdoms (220–280). It was merged with the Zhaolie Temple in commemoration of Liu Bei. The temple displays the suppleness of the Chinese garden. There are numerous historical relics like horizontal cribbed boards, couplets, inscribed tablets, penmanship, furnaces. Next, visit Jinli Old Street, known as the First Street of Shu Kingdom. It is a famous snack street in Chengdu. The ambiance is just like stepping back into the past, well presented and historically brilliant. Tonight, enjoy the stunning Sichuan Opera Show.

Day 10: Leshan&Huanglongxi

First drive to Leshan after breakfast which is remarkable Grand Buddha, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world largest Buddha statue carved into a side of the Lingyun Mountain. Take a short boat trip to see the statue. Next station is Huanglongxi Old Town famed as Historic & Cultural Town and also the Hometown of Chinese Folk Art (Fire Dragon). It is the base of the national film and television photography. So it is also called Film City and Chinese Hollywood. Besides, it was The Home of Tea. The Ancient Tea Horse Road was built in the ancient times on account of its rich experience in growing tea. Finally return to Chengdu hotel for dinner and rest.

Day11: Dujiangyan

Leave Chengdu for Dujiangyan in the morning to visit Dujiangyan Irrigation Project. With over 2200 years history, it is honored as the ‘Treasure of Sichuan”, which still plays a crucial role in draining off floodwater, irrigating farms and providing water resources for more than 50 cities in Sichuan  province. After lunch we will visit the birthplaces of Taoism — QingCheng Mountain. It is one of the most important Taoist centers in China. In Taoist mythology, it was the site of the Yellow Emperor studied with Ning Fengzi. As a center of the Taoist religion it became host to many temples. Finally return to the hotel.( You can departure at night or tomorrow morning)
